A Comparison of Two 150kg Snatch Attempts

Much of the video I shot at the 2013 USAW Nationals ended up not being usable. But, this clip of the close snatch competition in the men's 85kg category came out well. Here are identical weights lifted by two athletes of differing builds and contrasting starting positions. Burns begins in what we would describe as a traditional starting posture, while Cooper takes up the newly popular, lower hips, shoulders over the bar position.

It's crucial for coaches to consider the segment lengths of the athletes under their supervision. Not everyone can lift exactly the same!

The clip runs first in regular speed, then in slow motion. Use the white triangles just below the Play bar to see this lifter's key positions, along with my commentary. You can advance key positions by using the Next Marker option. Also, use Dartfish's Next Frame option to watch the lift frame-by-frame.
