A Solid C&J for the Silver Medal

Here's a coach's eye view of the 201kg clean and jerk that earned TJ Greenstone the silver medal at the 2016 USA Weightlifting National Championships.

We first met about three years ago when TJ began his new athletic career as a weightlifter. He's the Assistant Coordinator for Strength & Conditioning at Tennessee State University. Despite a hectic work schedule TJ continues to make progress on the platform. His big goal for this year is the FISU World University Championships in November.

This is a personal record lift, yet viewers will note the clean is caught quite high and he looks good for more. A regular issue is TJ's failure to step out aggressively enough with the front foot in the jerk and it is seen here how this leads to many forward recoveries.

Check out my key point analysis notes provided for closer scrutiny of this lift.
