Strength and Power Notes November 2010
November kept me busy with hundreds of orders of my Strength Training for Cyclists combo pack. In light of the current economic times I thought it worthwhile to combine the DVD and Quick Series booklet at a much lower price than the full STFC System. And, the reaction was swift and enthusiastic.
The November Performance Keys program on November 13th came off well, with participants from out of state and local showing up. Many thanks to Robert Henry, owner of CrossFit Daytona, for hosting the event. We made good use of Dartfish to provide participants with live feedback of their performances.
On the 18th and 19th I led the USA Weightlifting Level I coaching course at Life University, Atlanta. We had more than 70 chiropractors take the course, which was customized to their needs as a 1-day program. Many thanks to Robert Hall, a Life student and a nationally experienced weightlifter, for his assistance with demonstrations.
December should be a chance to catch up and put final touches on several programs for the New Year. Look for details of future Newton Sports CEU programs currently under development for 2011.
I’m instructing a USAW Level I course in Wilmington, NC, February 12-13. Details are at www.usaweightlifting.org on the Coaching Course Information page.
Les Knight, PhD, ISC Division of Wellness, has me presenting to medical professionals twice in December on the topic of resistance training, injury rates, and flexibility. Both courses are scheduled for Orlando, December 20-23 and 27-30.
