Strength and Power Notes June 2009
By the time you read this Notes post the new Newton Sports web site should be up and running. Thanks to everyone for your patience as the final details came together. Check it out and give me some feedback on what you like, what you would like to see, etc.
In May I had another all-day session in Orlando with law enforcement wellness personnel from around the country. This was part of the ISC Division of Wellness and their regular clinic program schedule.
I decided to skip the USA Weightlifting National Championships and Pan American Weightlifting Championships in Chicago, June 4-8. No doubt it will be a great event, directed by Mike Gattone. And, it promises to be an interesting first year for USAW under their new governance structure. But, I’ll have to read about it elsewhere.
Toward the end of June I’ll be in Rio de Janeiro addressing a multiple-day program called the Rio Sports Business Convention. I’m providing five presentations and one hands-on session. The topics include:
- Use of Explosive Lifting to Improve Sports Performance
- Weightlifting: The Original Form of Functional Training
- Optimizing Results Through Program Design and Periodization
- Maximizing Cycling and Running Performance With Strength Training
- Youth Strength Training: Applications & Limitations
As noted elsewhere on the Newton Sports web site, the price on the Pro Back Revolution® System has been reduced for the month of June. The inventor, Bill Kaiser, decided to reduce the inventory, so he’s cut the price to an unbelievable $399.95, plus $60 shipping to the 48 contiguous United States.
Many of you have seen my enthusiastic endorsement of the Pro Back Revolution® System as the most effective way to perform back extensions. If not, check it out here and look at the YouTube clip related to the Back Rev’s ease of use, both for developing the lower back and for safe decompressing after a heavy squat workout.
If you’ve been thinking about picking up a Back Revolution, this is absolutely the best price you will see. And, it’s only for the month of June. Order now!
DartfishTV is the latest launch by Dartfish, the Swiss motion analysis software company. I’ve been slow getting this up and running, but be sure to check out my new channel on DartfishTV (go to www.dartfish.tv). DartfishTV is the latest and simplest way to share video clips of lifting technique. You can subscribe to the existing content I have posted or you can directly transfer your lifting clips to me for feedback. DartfishTV promises to take online coaching to the next level.
Finally, with the launch of the new web site visitors will notice a more condensed Newton Strength & Power Notes. I am developing a new emphasis on e-bulletins, available at no cost to Newton Sports supporters. There’s one for weightlifting and one for cycling strength training.
More detailed information on these topics is now available when you opt-in and request to be placed on the mailing list. The e-bulletins, which are delivered by Mail Chimp, come to you about every four to six weeks.
Newton Strength & Power Notes will continue to appear on the new site, with an overview of the latest developments at Newton Sports.
