Cary, NC Course a HUGE Success (cont'd)
led the course, assisted by Chris Garret (next to Newton) and Mike Young (front and center, Athletic Lab shirt).
Below are comments these new coaches made about the course:
Great job this weekend! I've shown variations of these lifts to students for 24 years and now I've learned how to do them much better! Keep telling your stories along with the course material - I learned as much from those or more! Good luck in all that you do.
Sincerely,
Greg M.
Coach-
Just wanted to thank you for sharing your personal experience and deep insight with us at the Athletic Lab USAW Certification course. You left a deep impression on everyone I talked to.

Harvey -
I was in the gym on Monday working on my technique.
Thanks for the quick results of the exam. I had a great learning experience and will definitely stay in touch.
Regards,
Robert R.
Hello Harvey
Thank you for the feedback. I’m happy I passed but still feel the need to further my knowledge and understanding of the lifting techniques. That, in addition to periodization and program design. What other resources would you recommend that can further my knowledge and help me become a better coach?
Respectfully
Brian D.
Harvey,
I wanted to thank you for the excellent class this past weekend at Athletic Lab.
This was a tough course for me due to my exposure to CrossFit methodology for so long, but I feel like I did good on the test.
I really learned more from you than the manual and video. Your stories and tactics of using real-world situations made that course more valuable to me.
Also, please accept our open invitation to be our guest whenever you are in the area of Charlotte/Rock Hill. We would love to host any event that you would like to put on if you need.
Last, we will definitely be in touch. I know that Brian and I will lean on you when we have questions regarding complex issues with lifts. We want nothing more than to teach proper technique and make our athletes the best that they can be through Olympic lifting.
Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Thomas S.
Coach Newton,
Thank you for a great weekend of education, both academic and practical! I had a great time learning from you. I am definitely a better coach now from the things you taught me. I wish you the best.
God bless,
Adam S
Harvey,
Thanks for your work at this weekend's Cert. I did my first clean in 1997, but this is the first time I would feel confident teaching it to an athlete.
Please let me know if there's ever anything I can do for you.
Thanks,
Jay
Harvey-
If you are in DC at any time, we would love to show you a good time.
Also, Jack will more than likely be getting in touch with you regarding the lifting blocks. We are starting our training program today with the OLY lifts. Pretty stoked.
Thanks again for everything Harvey. Truly enjoyed the experience. Have a solid week and we will be in touch!
Patrick H.
Coach Newton,
Thank you for coaching us up this past weekend. It was an excellent class and I gained a lot of knowledge that I am now eager to apply.
I am interested in purchasing the adjustable blocks that you mentioned in class. Can you please send me the contact information for the vendor that you recommend? Also, I am interested in using the Dartfish software for weightlifting analysis. Where do I go to purchase that software?
Thanks again,
Jack T.
Mr. Newton,
My name is Cedric Prowell. Let me start by saying it was truly a pleasure to learn from you this weekend. I learned so much. I was writing to ask if I could get my test results. I know you probably have received 60 emails asking the same, so if not I understand. Again thank you so much for sharing your knowledge this weekend.
Cedric P.
Harvey,
Thanks for a great class. Looking forward to working with you in the future.
V/R,
Brad
Coach Newton,
First of all, it was an absolute honor meeting and learning from you this weekend. I would like to continue to stay in touch with you and discuss some possible collaborations in the future. In the meanwhile, could you please send me the pie chart calculation you mentioned today in class (% based off of back squat)?
Thanks!
Dave K.
Harvey,
Just wanted to say thank you for a great course. I look forward to the newsletters. It's good to learn from such an intelligent person. Hope to meet up again. Thanks!
Robert "Bo" M.
Harvey,
Thank you so much for all your help. Your stories and additional content made the course for me.
When you come to the DC area, do you have plans Friday? I would love for you to come to a practice, or take you to dinner even just to talk about lifting.
Once again thanks so much,
Craig K.
Harvey,
Thank you so much for your time and willingness to share your knowledge with us this past weekend. I'm very excited about my new certification and look forward to growing my knowledge of weightlifting. I am actually thinking of joining Mike's weightlifting club if I can make it work with my work schedule. I need something to compete in again since I don't play football anymore. If it would be OK with you, I would love to send you some samples of some of my programming for some of my teams to get your expert feedback.
FYI Bob Alejo says hi!
Respectfully,
Bryan T.
