What is Dartfish?
Dartfish is one of the most exciting creations in the field of sports science in recent history. Dartfish, a Swiss national company with a strong presence in all corners of the world, is motion analysis software that literally “makes the invisible, visible.”
You’ve seen Dartfish software in use on NBC Sports’ coverage of the Olympic Games. Nearly every
US
Olympic family national governing body (NGB) heavily endorses Dartfish. Leading university human performance labs all use Dartfish. Coaches and athletes love it, non-athlete high school kids are fascinated by its many applications in the computer lab. In a word, Dartfish is simply fantastic.
In its simplest form, Dartfish allows for repeated instant feedback (along with great coaching tools for drawing or measuring data) in the simple, but highly effective, “In the Action” module.
“The Analyzer” mode allows for much more complex analysis of complicated human motion, such as execution of the Snatch or the Clean-and-Jerk. A coach can easily (and quickly) measure a video clip, create sequence key point instruction pictures, add his/her teaching points (typed or auditory), measure and draw to illustrate crucial details for the athlete, and finally, produce a finished “mediabook” to return to the athlete. The mediabook can be sent via e-mail, or burned to a disc.
Highly sophisticated applications such as “StroMotion” and “Simulcam” allow for multiple images to be loaded and compared. Due to the relatively static nature of weightlifting exercises, these two programs have somewhat limited application in the weightroom, but they can be great for training that involves a horizontal plane (such as plyometrics).
Dartfish offers this much and more. Newton Sports is proud to utilize Dartfish software in our online coaching capability and we regularly coordinate strength training educational products for Dartfish.
